So maybe it’s not quite sweater weather yet in LA.  I am still getting used to this warm weather and trying to figure out what to wear when it’s 80 degrees in the middle of fall.  I miss the Octobers in NYC but I’ll be back in NY in about a week!

This look is a bit boy meets girl.  I paired a men’s Uniqlo sweater with a flirty skirt and a pinstriped boxy jacket then threw on some super feminine jewels.  I liked the men’s sweater because it has an over-sized sweatshirt shape.  I actually bought it for my husband but he never wore it so I took it back!

I’m also loving dark burgundy lips for this fall but the California sunshine makes it look more red in the picture.

embellished denim shirt(shirt J.Crew, shorts Asos & shoes TopShop also seen here, earrings BaubleBar, bracelets Madewell, Nordstrom)

Sometimes a girl just needs a little sparkle in her life!  A simple denim button up goes from ordinary (but cute) to extra-ordinary with rhinestones!  I love the jewelry and jewel details J.Crew has been doing lately and this denim shirt is no exception.  The embellishment is subtle but so pretty up close.  The earrings I chose were statement costume jewelry and I felt like they can be dressy, but juxtaposed with the denim it wasn’t too much for a casual Sunday.  I love that this shirt has the bling but is so practical and wearable at the same time.

Have you guys found any pretty bejeweled pieces lately?

I’m loving the sporty raglan sleeve detail of this dress juxtaposed with the tailored, ladylike silhouette.  The contrast is unexpected and unique.  The sheer sleeves and back of the dress show a modest amount of skin but it’s still easy to wear.  I wore my Chanel bowling bag circa 2007 and it totally goes with the subtle sporty theme!

IMG_5842(overalls Asos, tank H&M, necklace Kenneth Jay Lane, bracelet Madewell, purse Chanel, sunnies Ray-Ban, shoes Alexander Wang also seen here, here, & here)

Overalls!  I’m excited to wear them again!  I was so into them in high school and a little into college.  I remember wearing the baggy style in high school (or was it jr high?) and a more fitted dark wash style from Dickies freshman year in college.  Here’s another take on overalls with a more legging/fitted silhouette.  I’m loving them because the black is perfect for fall and winter, they are super stretchy and comfy, and they remind me of those good ol’ days.  I can’t wait to wear them when it’s colder with booties and a leather jacket.  I’ve seen a couple leather versions that I think are really cute (i.e. here ), but I think I wanted to see how I felt about this plain black version first.  I think these overalls would be cute with a loose, printed button down blouse as well.  The heels change the vibe of traditional overalls and make them more feminine and age appropriate.

I told you I’d be wearing these Alexander Wang heels til the bitter end of summer!  I will still be wearing them until temps drop to highs of 75 at least! 🙂

What other pieces and silhouettes are making a comeback you guys are excited about?

Currently I’m obsessed with booties, of the type that go on your feet and the ones associated with your backside.  Since fall is upon us, the inevitable question, “what booties will I be wearing this fall (and winter)??” is ringing in my head.  I’ve already posted on instagram and here the Loeffler Randall beauts I would love to pull the trigger on.  And what about the ones associated with your backside you ask?  Well I have a confession, I am kind of obsessed with twerking.  It’s something I cannot properly do (at all, and trust me I’ve tried) and so I enviously watch all the twerking insta vids on my feed via Diplo haha.  (Oh and I don’t mean Miley Cyrus style twerking, I mean the legit rump twitch).  Some of the action I see those rear ends do I cannot wrap my head around….

Anyways, I’ve come up with a couple more booties that I would love to get my hands on below:

I love an ankle strap.  Although I hate the idea of extra work buckling yourself into these babies, I think it’d be well worth the extra minute of fumbling.  I am so happy with my first pair of Alexander Wang shoes that I brazenly recently declared I only want to wear Alexander Wang shoes from now on!  (That is if money were no object haha)

Animal prints, textures, and skins are totally a weakness of mine.  These booties are no exception.  They have such a crisp, feminine silhouette and the embossed python kills me!  I would love to wear these with cuffed jeans, boyfriend or otherwise.

And now I leave you with the now infamous twerking viral video that turned out to be a Jimmy Kimmel prank:

(top J.Crew *on sale!, shorts Asos, shoes Alexander Wang, bag Chanel, necklace J.Crew similar here, bracelet & ring Tiffany & Co, sunnies Urban Outfitters, lips Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain in “Smitten”)

First off, it’s good to be back and online and able to properly post an outfit pic!  Secondly, the current state of my all over in-between hair is leaving me frustrated especially after seeing these pics! (mid length hair, mid length bangs… annoying…).  Thirdly, I can’t believe it’s already September, the summer is slipping away and fashion week is here again!

Navy & black worn together used to be a fashion faux pas, but that era has come and gone and now it’s embraced whole heartedly!  So I don’t really think it’s a “color clash”, but am just inferring the historical previous fashion no-no (see also: no white after labor day, and mixing prints and patterns).  I love the way navy and black look against each other especially when color blocked.  I think some kind of black leather against something navy is such a perfect combo for fall and winter (but as you can see I like it in the summer too).  I think fashion used to have so many “rules”, but now everyone loves to “push the envelope” and “bend the rules” or completely break them.  I love that this mindset gives you so much freedom to just experiment without fear of judgment.  So go ahead and put together something that you thought shouldn’t or wouldn’t work and you may be pleasantly surprised by the results!

Don’t forget to follow us on Instagram! Here’s a look at some recent posts:

I’m totally lusting for these guys for the fall! I’m not sure what kind of sock I would wear (I definitely need socks), but they are so so cute! I’ve already made outfits in my head wearing these.

I went to The Taste Los Angeles this past weekend and had a blast! Lots of food and drinks 🙂

Anica in LA!

Anica’s cute pups hanging out at home!

I’m still Internet-less (the delay is a long story) but I should (fingers crossed) be back online by tomorrow! So hopefully I can be better about my posts soon!

So it looks like it will be Mulberry and Melrose from LA from now on! Sarah just moved into her new house and now I am in the process of moving across the country. I won’t be completely moved until next month but I’ve been enjoying sunny California for the past 2 weeks. It’s been nearly 14 years since I lived in Southern California so I felt like a tourist visiting Laguna Beach and Bev Hills.

I even bought a car last week! I haven’t driven much in the last 14 years so I’m not a good driver. I need a lot of practice but Pepper loves the car!

I’ll miss you NY!

1-Collages7Fall is just around the corner and it is my ultimate favorite season.  I love the colors of the changing leaves, the rich flavors of cinnamon spice, apple picking/pumpkin decorating but most of all the fashion!  There is just more to layer and accessorize in the fall so here’s a look back at some pieces from last fall that I am eager to wear!

All Leather Everything

Jackets, leggings, shorts, skirts, sleeves, patches – just put some leather on it or wear it all together.  I will definitely be sporting some head to toe leather this fall.

export(look back at the post for more details Winter Maxi, In LA, Weekend Cool, Back to Basics, Crop It, Leather on Leather)

Fancy Furs

Coats, jackets, vests, collars in every color – throw it on for instant glam!

2-2013-02-191(Think Mink, Red Alert, Citron, Colorblock Effect, Out of Line, Ladylike)

Borrowed from the Boys

Menswear inspired everything!  Oversized coats, jackets, shirts, pants – I want them all!

3-Untitled Export2(Cool Tones, Pop of Pine, Paris, Back to Basics, Moto Anyone)

What are your fall faves?
